We assist clients on a fee paying basis throughout Australia. Fees for our work vary depending upon the scope and complexity of the work and the time involved in completing the work.
We generally charge a fixed initial consultation fee to obtain all the relevant facts and provide you with advice about legal options, processes, potential outcomes, costs and practical advice to help you make the right decision about how to proceed.
Once we have a better understanding of your requirements, we are usually able to provide an estimate of the likely costs that will be involved, so you can assess the costs/benefits of further legal assistance and progressing further. Where your matter involves protracted negotiation and/or litigation, we will provide you with estimates of the costs involved to advance your case to particular stages.
In most matters, we charge on a hybrid item/time basis. We charge on a flat item basis for most standard items of work such as short and ordinary emails, phone calls and letters. We charge on a time basis for work that takes longer than normal or is more complex in nature, such as longer phone calls, the preparation of documents, meetings and preparation and conduct of tribunal/court matters.
Our current standard terms of engagement incorporating our item/time fee schedule for matters involving less than $1,500 in fees is attached. For more involved matters, we will provide you with a client agreement containing our terms and estimate of fees before proceeding.
